Share places, clearer locations, and a smoother inbox

A curated directory for finding local groups, better city and distance on profiles, waiting room and share-link rules for a live site, plus inbox and chat-request improvements.

  • Waiting room copy matches an open site: profile in review, what to expect by email, and tips for when you are approved. Old founding-member party meter and similar launch gimmicks are gone.
  • Share links turn on only after a human approves your profile, not while you are still in review.
  • After approval, Browse is home, with a one-time nudge to share your profile and a short new-and-growing note instead of old tester messaging.
  • Cookie banner uses clearer wording and two equal choices for analytics.
  • Share places (/share-places) lists curated Facebook groups and similar spots to meet people, filterable by region or topic.
  • Logged-in members get a saved intro blurb, copy kit, and region hints when promoting a profile on share places.
  • Region and distance chips under names on Browse and profiles so location reads faster.
  • Postal codes use real reference data, stricter validation, and cleaner city and metro labels when you set or change location.
  • Full profiles show extra photos in more places on the card, not only the first slots.
  • Email when someone accepts a chat request you sent, with a link back to inbox.
  • Inbox: tap the header (photo and name) to open their profile without leaving the thread.
  • Block, unblock, and pause use in-page confirmations so they are harder to trigger by mistake.
  • Report a problem in the nav when you are logged in; we receive useful context automatically.
  • Fixes: inbox preview and Browse profile popups no longer clash; typing long replies in inbox is less jumpy while you write.
  • Inbox: refresh keeps you in the same conversation. The message list stays aligned when your reply grows past a few lines, so recent messages do not slide under the composer.
  • Swap phone numbers safely. Once you have both sent three messages, either of you can tap Exchange contact. The other person chooses Accept or Not yet, and numbers are revealed only if you both agree. You can hide your number later, or send a new one if it changes.
  • Phone numbers now use a country code picker and a numeric keypad, and we check that the number is a real length for its country.
  • Email about unread messages is calmer: one email per conversation, sent only if a message sits unread for a while, instead of an email for every message.
  • Fixes: unsent text in the inbox no longer carries over from one conversation to another, and the message list stays put while you type.

Featured profiles at the top of Browse

Promoted profiles pin above the list with a gold Featured badge. Your filters do not remove them until you hide them.

  • Featured profiles appear at the top of Browse with a gold border and a Featured badge on the photo.
  • Tap Featured on the badge to read what promoted placement means.
  • Featured profiles stay at the top even when your filters would normally hide them. Use Hide if you do not want to see someone.
  • If someone featured is at 5 open chats, they still show at the top and people can still send chat requests. They accept when they free a slot, same as when you find them through a share link.
  • List and grid view both show featured profiles first.

More countries, lasting favorites, and Browse is the real site

Location works in more places, stars stay until you remove them, and the old guest demo is gone β€” sign up and browse real profiles.

  • The public demo is gone. Create a profile and use Browse β€” that is the site now.
  • Country is one A–Z list (United States and Canada stay at the top). Other Country is at the bottom if yours still is not listed.
  • Change country and the old postal code is cleared. Switch back and we put that country's code back.
  • After you pick a listed country, look up your postal code so people see the city, not the code.
  • If you signed up as Other and we added your country, Browse will ask you to update it so people nearby can find you.
  • Favorites stay until you unstar someone. Hiding them still removes the star.
  • My Stats shows unique profile opens (including guests on your share link) and how many people favorited you.
  • Cookie banner now says "Okay, go ahead" if you are fine with analytics. Decline is the same.

Clearer profile questions, and five chats at a time

New answers for marriage history, languages, and supporting a household β€” plus five live chats, and talk-again that uses a daily request.

  • Politics is six pick-one questions. Choose the side that fits you on each β€” not a pile of labels.
  • Have you been married before? And: if it came to it, could you support a household on your income alone?
  • Mark every language you speak. Browse can filter on that.
  • Relocation is three choices: I need to stay where I am, I'd consider relocating, or I want to move.
  • Height uses plus and minus buttons. Feet and inches first if you are in the US, Canada, the UK, or Ireland.
  • Kids questions now read: Do you have kids? Do you want kids? In a perfect world, how many children would you like to have?
  • Religion and race lists are shorter. If My Profile asks you to answer something, it is a new or updated question β€” fill it in so people can find you.
  • You can have 5 open chats at once. End one to free a slot. Replies inside an open chat stay unlimited.
  • At 5/5 you drop off Browse for new people, and you cannot send or open another chat until you end one. Share links stay up.
  • If someone says yes when you are full, they wait in line. When you end a chat, the oldest waiting person joins if they still have room.
  • Ask to talk again after a chat ends β€” from Inbox or their profile. That spends one of your 5 daily requests. Accepting spends one of theirs and a slot for both of you.
  • β€œCan Chat!” only shows while you can actually message. After a chat ends, the chip says Chat ended.

Block, report, and privacy controls

Tools to deal with unwanted contact, plus clearer privacy and a cookie choice on first visit.

  • Block someone from their profile or inbox β€” they won't appear in browse and pending chat requests are declined.
  • Report a profile with a reason (harassment, spam, fake account, etc.). Check report status anytime under Account Settings.
  • Blocked users list in Account Settings β€” unblock if you change your mind.
  • Updated privacy policy with clearer disclosure of analytics, safety data, and how to reach our privacy contact.
  • Cookie banner on first visit β€” analytics only load if you're OK with it. Change your mind anytime from the privacy page.

Shareable profile links

Share your profile in Facebook groups, Reddit replies, or anywhere you already connect β€” without opening browse to everyone.

  • New toggle on My Profile: turn on a share link when you want one. Off by default β€” your profile stays private until you choose.
  • Anyone with the link sees your full profile card (same as Browse). Messaging and browse stay gated for visitors who are not members yet.
  • Links are unlisted (not in search). Turn the toggle off anytime and the link stops working.
  • Visitors who are not logged in see a clear path to create their own free shareable profile β€” share when you want, or keep it private.
  • Added an info button on My Profile explaining daily chat request and accept limits β€” and why they exist as a spam safeguard.

Favorites, hide, photo grid, and welcome pages

Clearer starring and hiding, a photo-only grid, and new pages for people who want a real partner β€” not another swipe app.

  • Save is now Favorite β€” star a profile and open your favorites list from the chip at the top. Favoriting does not remove someone from browse; use Hide when you want them gone.
  • Hide replaces β€œNot interested” β€” eye-slash icon matches the hidden chip, with a toast that links to your hidden list.
  • List / Grid toggle beside β€œprofiles found”: grid shows photos only; click any tile for the full profile.
  • In grid view, Favorite sits top-left and Hide top-right on each photo.
  • Want kids welcome page at prettygooddating.com/want-kids. Filter to "Wants Kids: Yes" with one click. Family intent highlighted on every profile.
  • New blog post: Dating when you want kids (and tired of "maybe").
  • Heybaby shut down in 2024. We added a page explaining what we're building instead for people who miss it.
  • Hinge & Tinder alternative page. Browse profiles in a list, no swipe stack, honest stats.
  • Main site footer now links to Want kids? and Hinge & Tinder alternative.

Browse counts, filters, and signup improvements

Saved and hidden lists should match the numbers you see, plus a smoother signup path and verification links that last.

  • Saved profile count now matches what appears when you open your saved list (including for admins browsing both genders).
  • Soft-deleted or paused profiles drop out of saved and hidden counts automatically.
  • The βœ• β€œNot interested” button is saved to your account (not just this browser session) and removes the star if you had saved them.
  • Saved and hidden views ignore your browse filters so you can always find people you marked β€” with a note on screen when filters are off.
  • Distance filter β€œprofiles found” now matches the list you see on screen.
  • After onboarding, you can tell us how you found Pretty Good Dating (optional β€” helps us grow thoughtfully).
  • Email verification links now stay valid for 7 days instead of about an hour.
  • If a verification link has expired, you get a clear page explaining how to request a fresh one.
  • Browse filters improved: distance from you, when someone joined, and minimum height.
  • Filter panel redesigned with radio buttons and visible β€œactive filter” chips.
